Windmill hosts our Erasmus KA2 Partners

18th Nov 2022

This week Windmill was delighted to host a visit from our Erasmus Plus Partners in our KA2 Project - Full STEAM Ahead - this project involves the Nursery and Foundation Stage staff & children. This project is looking at outdoor learning and sharing ideas and activities from each of the partners. The partners are from Belgium, Croatia, England, Iceland and Norway. Our staff visited the Icelandic & Belgian schools last school year.

We were very happy to have 12 visitors in the school from Monday to Thursday. They enjoyed having a tour of the whole school and meeting with the children in Nursery and Foundation Stage. On Monday evening the coordinators from each of the schools gave a presentation to some of the Windmill staff - they showed videos and photos from their settings and we had pizza afterwards.

On Tuesday the visitors went to Belfast to do the bus tour and Titanic Experience with Kierna, Beverley and Enda from Nursery and Mrs Tate from P1.

On Wednesday the group took part in 2 sessions with Paula from Relax Kids. And then went to visit the Hill of The O'Neill.

Thursday was their last day in school and it was the best one for the children in Nursery & Foundation Stage as each of the partners did activities with the children. In the nursery the Icelandic teachers did some painiting and a maths game and the Norwegians did some exercises outdoors up at Bear Woods. P1 went on a hunt to rescue Eva the fairy from some pirates with the English team and found treasure and made maps. P2 made pictures with milk and food colouring with the Belgian team and some did a lovely mindfulness session with the Croatians. It was a very busy and fun morning.

To finish the 4 days mobility the partners went to see 'Our House' at the Craic Theatre. It was wonderful to host our Erasmus Partners and we look forward to meeting up with some more of them in January in Norway.
