Windmill Hosts Erasmus Plus Partners

21st Jun 2022

We were delighted to host our Erasmus Plus partners from Turkey, Lithuania, Hungary & Italy, as part of our KA201 project The Development of Social and Emotional Skills in Early Childhood the week of the 6th June. The partners based themselves in Belfast and Mrs Corr, Mr Campbell and Aoibh Johnson, our drama teacher travelled to Belfast on the 7th & 8th to take part in drama workshops on family attachment, separation anxiety and parenting attitudes which emerged as a result of school adaptation assessments applied to students & families in all the partner schools. These workshops were held under the leadership of Uludag University faculty members Dr Sehnaz Sungurtekin and Dr Nuray KOC.

On the 9th & 10th the partners travelled to Dungannon to spend the day at Windmill, meeting our students and hear about our school system and the history of our school. the visitors loved all our beautiful artwork and talking to our students who were a credit - they were so friendly and welcoming. The kitchen staff provided lovely lunches on both days - Irish stew one day & soup on another.

On the Friday Aoibh led a drama session with some of the nursery children and the results of the scale surveys were presented by betel SINIR, it was good to learn that we are all facing similar issues and so will be able to come up with creative solutions.

The visit to Dungannon finished with a visit to the Hill of the O'Neill and a meal in the Deli on the Green with some of the Windmill Staff. It was a pleasure to host the 22 visitors and we look forward to meeting up again in Turkey in October.
