Windmill has a new Erasmus Plus Project!

15th Sep 2020

Mrs Corr was delighted to hear this week from the British Council that the application for a new Erasmus Plus Project for 2 years has been successful. The project is called 'Full STEAM Ahead - Learning through Play' and will involved the nursery and Foundation Stage classes and staff.

The partners in this project are Highway Farm Outdoor Preschool in Cornwall, England, DV Iskrica Kindergarten in Zagreb, Croatia, Eikefjord Barnehage in Eikefjord, Norway, Leikskólinn Stekkjarás, Hafnarfjordur, Iceland and Stedelijke Basisschool Polderstad, Antwerp, Belgium. Windmill is the coordinating school. Hopefully when things are more settled staff from Windmill will have opportunities to visit each of these schools and learn from their colleagues across Europe.

At the moment the school has 3 Erasmus Projects and the Croatian kindergarten is involved in one, European New Generation and 15 years ago the Norwegian kindergarten was involved in our very first European Comenius project. Mrs Corr had the chance to go and work for a week in this kindergarten in 2008 and it has had a huge impact on her teaching. As part of our Erasmus KA1 project Mrs Corr hopes to travel back to Norway to work again in the outdoor class at Eikefjord and get some more ideas for Windmill.

Hopefully over the next 2 years the children at Windmill especially in nursery and Foundation Stage will get to exchange pictures, letters and photos with the children in the partner schools and learn something about the culture of each of the different countries.
