What do plants need in order to grow?

Through our 'Caring for the Environment' topic, P3 have been investigating what plants need in order to grow. They have decided to explore if they need water, soil, heat and light. Nearly everyone predicted that soil and water are essential, however they were less sure if plants really needed heat and light. As a class they decided on a fair test in order to find an answer to each question. They have placed a pea plant in a dark cupboard, in the staff fridge and some on our class window sill.

They are looking forward to observing what will happen over the next few weeks.
