Sustrans Activities -Weeks 8 &9

3rd Jun 2020

Good morning all

Well, we all made it to June, and the end of term is in sight – probably the most unusual school term most of you have ever had in your teaching career?! It’s certainly been an unusual one for us at Sustrans HQ.

Last week, I neglected to send out a Sustrans home learning activity (my apologies, I completely forgot), so to make up for it this week, I’m sending you two gems.

First up, it’s Richard, our Schools Officer in the South West, who has put together a brilliant little video of some fun Cycle Skills games that kids can try at home in their yard, driveway, local park, etc. Usually at this time of year, you might be delivering Cycle Skills sessions in school for pupils to help improve their competence and confidence on the bike – this is a good alternative, and something they can have fun with at home. There’s an accompanying pdf explaining the games – please find attached. Video here: https://youtu.be/roVCJdjY_as

Secondly, I’ve included Dave (South East officer) and his Scavenger Hunt – a simple, outdoors activity to keep kids occupied for a while! He invites them to complete a short story as well, so hopefully it’s a useful activity for you. Pdf attached, video here: https://youtu.be/RIG8N38qKp4

As always, please use these resources as you wish – share them on your school website, social media pages, Seesaw, or just drop them into your teaching packs.

Best wishes

Emma
