P7 Leavers 2020

30th Jun 2020

Class of 2020 – Leavers

What a term it has been for everyone, in particular our Primary 7 children. Plans had been made for the children to attend the annual outdoor residential to Shannaghmore and to participate in different sporting competitions, Science and Technology challenges, in a range of sports day events and in the end of year Leavers’ Assembly. End of year tests were also on the itinerary!!!

The children were certainly put to the test when we were sent in to lockdown on 20th March and school was closed for most. All our plans and intentions changed overnight. We understand how difficult life has been over the past few months and all the staff at Windmill are extremely proud of the way in which the children have faced such adversity.

Our Primary 7 children returned to school today for a very different Leavers’ Assembly. The children came in to school ( following current social distancing guidelines ) and met with their friends in small groups. It was the first time that many had met face to face since lockdown and it was lovely to watch them converse about their experiences. Many of the children returned with a glowing tan and some have s.t.r.e.t.c.h.e.d considerably. The children received a ‘leaving gift’ and watched a little video of some of their adventures over the past 7-8 years.

As well as saying ‘Farewell’ to our lovely class of 2020, we are also saying farewell to our P7 classroom assistant, Mrs Michelle Dugal. Mrs Dugal has been with the class since Primary 1 and is leaving Windmill to undertake a Degree.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish the Class of 2020 and Mrs Michelle Dugal every success for the future. You will be sorely missed.

Best wishes

From all the staff at Windmill.
