Hannah's Memory

27th Feb 2018

Hannah’s Memory

My name is Hannah and I was in Primary 1 in Windmill Integrated Primary School in 1989.

I have now send my children to Windmill. A memory I have “SING” shouted Mr Moore “Sing as loud as you can. Bring the roof down.” I took a deep breath and filled my six-year-old lungs and sang louder than I’d ever sung before. In fact, it seemed like the whole class were singing a lot louder, “HES GOT THE WHOLE WORLD IN HIS…” ‘SMASH!!’ The sound of a huge crash silenced us. At six years old I was convinced we really had brought the roof down. Oh no! Space was tight in those days and for a primary 2 class to practise choir we had to make do with St John’s hall, a dilapidated old building where a tile was falling from the ceiling regardless of us being there or not. At least I can look back and laugh at the day my singing brought the roof down.
