Final Erasmus Plus Meeting for our SESDECE Project

5th Jun 2023

Last week Kierna Corr & Ellen McCrilly travelled to Italy to take part in the final meeting for our SESDECE project on Social & Emotional Development and helping children and families settle into school and transition from Nursery to Primary. This project has involved partners from Turkiye, Italy, Lithuania & Hungary. Our staff have been fortunate to visit Turkiye, Hungary and Italy and we hosted all the partners last June at Windmill. This time we travelled to Barletta to stay there and go by train each morning to Trinitapoli to visit our partner school and kindergarten. The children sang some songs and put on a short drama for us in their school theatre. We visited a nature reserve and saw lots of birds including flamigos! The staff in the school in Trinitapoli made us most welcome and provided some wonderful food and coffee. Through this project we hope to have booklets we can use to help families understand what they need to do to help their child settle into school and how the school can help with this transition from home to school too.

Sadly as the British government withdrew from the Erasmus programme our school can no longer apply for any new projects, we still have one project which will finish in October but after that Windmill's 19 year European Projects journey comes to an end.
